Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) is available to NDIS Participants that need transitional housing whilst they wait for their permanent home to become available. The NDIS funds MTA for eligible participants for up to 90 days.

Some general examples of MTA are:

  • Temporary accommodation for participants who are at risk of being admitted to aged care, or those who wish to leave aged care, while they wait for home modifications or a suitable SDA or SIL home.
  • Participants who are ready to leave hospital but are waiting for disability-related home modifications to be completed on their house.
  • Participants who have been found eligible for Supported Independent Living or Specialist Disability Accommodation but are awaiting a vacancy or build to be completed.

Medium Term Accommodation does not include:

  • Everyday living costs. Participants remain responsible for meeting their day-to-day living costs including groceries, utilities, telephone or internet costs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Medium Term Accommodation

Short Term Accommodation, also known as respite is supports and accommodation for NDIS participants for a short time away from home. It can include a short stay with other people – for example a family member or carers, or it could be by yourself. STA can be used for somewhere to stay when your usual carers/supports are unavailable, in a time of emergency or when you would like to try new experiences and learn new things.

NDIS STA can be used for up to 14 days at a time and for a maximum of 28 days per year. Our most popular Inspired Getaways are between 5 and 10 days, however you may prefer less or more time away, the choice is yours.

We understand everyone’s NDIS plans are unique so it’s a good idea to speak with your support coordinator and or plan manager to confirm your eligibility for STA funding and the number of days you can access.

Our Inspired Getaways (STA) service is fully funded by your NDIS plan, making the STA a ‘no out-of-pocket expense’ STA (other than any discretionary spending).

This means you receive the following,

  • Tailored supports from a qualified and experienced professional or as we like to call them ‘Getaway Guides’
  • Transport for all outings (wheelchair accessible transport available)
  • All meals included
  • Agreed activities, outings and skill building exercises included
